He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine . .

Hello all!
Starting your day with a literary quote - how's that for sophisticated blogging?  Anyway points to you if you recognise it as coming from 'Death of a Salesman' by Arthur Miller.  And why have that as a post title you may ask?   Well, I'm posting about something a bit different from cardmaking today and thought I needed a title that would stand out.

Anyway, on to the main course!  As it is 'Anything Goes' over at Eclectic Ellapu for the Pink team this week, I decided to show you just how eclectic we can be.   I said a while ago that I wanted to use my Silhouette Cameo more and so I've been playing with it in some of my refurbishment make-overs.  I picked up an old shoe-shine box recently and wanted to bring it back to life with some snazzy new graphics!.  I sanded and repainted the whole thing in black and then set about designing some text with the Cameo programme to cut out some vinyl words.   This was the first time I had done any vinyl layering so I made sure to watch several of the very helpful YouTube videos before starting.  I have some pinned on to my Silhouette board and I also recommend joining the Facebook group (All Things Silhouette Cameo and SD ) as there are so many helpful people to guide you in the right direction.

I used Silhouette removable vinyl as I intended to varnish over the whole thing when done and I had lots of the vinyl to use up from back when I had my first Silhouette SD.  Again, the FB group can give you links to buy permanent vinyl and all kinds of goodies to use with your Cameo.

So, finally on to some photos - about time too!  Here's the box before I started -

and here's the after shots -

I love it!!  I'm supposed to be doing these makeovers pieces to sell but every time I refurbish something, I want to keep it!  Anyway, this will (probably) be going up for sale at the next craft show I do but for now, I would like to link this up at  -

Thanks for popping in!

Love this Dawn! I need to make something similar for my soon to be here granddaughter, Lucy. It would be cute in a nursery for sitting, standing and storing!

It is amazing Dawn. I love it, love the lettering you have used and love your design. When people give free SVG files, how do you use them in your silhouette? I have mine saved in a file but don't know how to get them in my program.

Triple Wow! You know I'm a huge fan of your cards, but I really like your mixed media and craft projects even more! You bring a cool chic vibe to refurbished pieces.

Wow Dawn, that is so cool! I wouldn't want to sell it either! Those colours you've used look fantastic on the black background, you're so very clever!
