Hippity Hoppity Easter!

Hello all!
Hope you're all enjoying your Easter weekend - it's a cold one here where I am in the UK but we did get to see some sun today at least!
My card today is for the current challenge over at The Octopode Factory which is Easter.  Take a trip over and check out the rest of the DT's fabulous inspirational creations!
I used the Easter Bunny Marigold , coloured with Copics and fussy cut onto a background of designer paper (free from a magazine) which I embossed to add interest.  The sentiment is a stamp from the dollar bin at Michaels.

Isn't she cute?  I would like to enter this into the challenges at  Glitter n Sparkle , That Craft Place , The Corrosive Challenge , Addicted to CAS and Dilly Beans .

Thanks for popping by :)

A touch of whimsy.

Hello all!
I'm back (if a little late) with this week's challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu for the PINK team and this time the theme, chosen by Berni is 'whimsy'.
The reason I'm a bit late in posting this is that we headed off to the wilds of Connecticut early this morning - well, to New Milford anyway as we wanted to check out the Elephant's Trunk flea market.  It was good but absolutely freezing!!  I think we plan on keeping our junking trips to indoor places until it warms up a bit.  We didn't come back with much but yesterday I did manage to score a very cheap load of small furniture bits to redo so I'm set for a couple of weeks.  It's another hobby of mine - redoing, repainting, restyling small furniture and bits.  I may do some posts about it at some point.....

So enough of the waffling and back to the challenge - with April 1st coming up fast, it's the perfect time to create something fun and for my project I decided to make my own mini art journal.  I've been playing around with paints, inks and mixed media stuff for a while now and so I wanted something I could do this in.  I didn't want a full sized book though so cut some cardstock and watercolour paper to about 7x9 inches and made a chipboard cover, binding it with my Zutter Bind-it-all.  For the cover I used a fabulously whimsical Octopode Factory digi -( 'sad little pierrot') which I printed over some song lyrics and then masked as I attacked the background with Dylusions Inks, various stamps, chalks, inks and markers.  I painted the digi with acrylic paints and inks and added some definition with a fine nib Sharpie.

I'll leave you with a close-up of the little clown.

Thanks so much for popping in :)

A bit more green.....

Hello all!
I must apologise for not posting this earlier - don't know where my head has been this weekend!  There's a new challenge over at Scribbles Designs and this month we're asking you to join in with shades of green and/or Easter.  I decided to go with both and used the cute digi "Hatch Chicklet"  to make a very CAS card!  I printed the digi onto both yellow and green coloured cardstock as well as the background cardstock and did some paper piecing of the chick and the grass, enhancing both with inks and copics.

Why not head over to Scribbles Designs and take a look at the rest of the DT's fabulous work?  You can also pick up a freebie digi while you're there and enter the challenge.......

I would like to enter this into the challenges at - Always something creative , Lia Stampz , A gem of a challenge , 613 Avenue Create and Gingerloft .

Thanks for popping in :)

Dream a little dream of me.

Hello all!
Back with another song related blog post title so apologies if you've now got the song in your head!   The version I know is by The Mamas and Papas - I do enjoy a bit of 60's music every now and then :)
Anyway I wanted to do a card for the current Stampotique challenge which is to use text as I love anything to do with text and typography!  I had an idea brewing for what I wanted to do and this was one of those great times when the idea actually translated itself onto the card and looked just as I had  pictured it - I love it when a plan comes together.
I stamped the Jasmin image (by Jo Capper Sandon at Stampotique) onto a page of dictionary text and added a touch of colour with some pencils.  I love this stamp but don't use it as much as I should - need to change that!  I used Adobe PSE to print the background words so that they were off the edge of the cardstock and splattered on some yellow ink.  I then attached the torn edged stamped image with my current fave crafting accessory - washi tape!

You're going to be seeing a lot of this style in the coming weeks as I absolutely love it!!
I tend to become a bit obsessed if I like something and I'll do it over and over until the next thing comes along that I 'absolutely love'.
I would also like to enter this into the following challenges - Simon Says Stamp and Show ,  Challenges 4 everybody, , Lady Annes Sentimental Friday , Creative Creations , Cute card Thursday and 613 Avenue Create .

Thanks so much for popping in :)

Post early for Valentine's Day!

Hello all!
I took a short break from the CAS regime for my card today, although it's still not a 'fully loaded' creation compared to some out there.  It's not that I necessarily prefer CAS styles, just that I find it a whole lot easier.  to do.  Case in point - this card took me hours to do and I'm not even including the colouring time!
I merged the Saturated Canary digi, 'Hipster' with my own Love Conquers All digi and added the 'Be my Valentine' sentiment.  I had wanted to do a vintage feel Valentine's card so went with sepia and brown tones, using my Copics to do all the colouring.  Using Kraft paper I cut flowers and a tag shape with my Cameo and then stamped and heat embossed some script onto them, wrapped a chipboard heart with some twine and added aTim Holtz ticket and some pearls.

The current challenge at Saturated Canary is Movie Inspiration and my movie is "Valentine's Day" - doh!  No kidding huh?
I would also like to enter this into the challenges at 613 Avenue Create, Dream ValleyOne Stitch at a Time and Pile it on.

Thanks so much for stopping by - I truly appreciate your visits and comments.  A warm welcome to my newest blog friends/followers too :)
