Ice cold soda anyone?

Hello all!
I know, my second post today but I just couldn't wait to put this up :)  Don't you just love it when you've had an idea for something in your head and it actually comes out the way you 'saw' it?  I have always loved the retro diner style signs and have been wanting one for our house back in England for when we eventually move home.  I've been sitting on a pile of pallets and wood crates for a while now (not actually sitting but you get my point!) and so I thought it was time to use them.

I used the bottom of a crate that I had dismantled with more brute force than skill!  I then sanded and painted it and sanded it a few more times and I had my base ready.  I printed the large letters for the word 'Soda' and traced over them with carbon paper underneath to get the edges, filling them in with acrylic paint by hand and then outlining them with a Sharpie.  The other words and the corner flourishes were painted on using a vinyl stencil cut with, yes, you've guessed it, my Cameo!!  As I wanted the sign to have 'Ye Olde feel' to it, I then sanded it back once more.

I love it!!!  I'm so pleased with how it turned out and hubby thinks it's pretty darn great too :)  He's even got me a commission today on the strength of this photo - how cool is that?

I am linking this up to the 'Under $100 Linky party' at http://bec4-beyondthepicketfence.blogspot.com/ and also the 'Fabulously Creative Friday Linky Party' at http://www.jenniferrizzo.com/.

Thanks for popping in !

Wanted to say thanks for all the pins you did on the silhouette. Do do not have mine yet but it is in the mail, can't wait for it to come.
