Ta-daa!!!!

Hello all!

Well, the big day is here at last.  The very auspicious and grand opening of the first challenge at Eclectic Ellapu  - big fanfare and lots of cheering!
This fab and funky brand new challenge blog is all about having fun.  The word 'eclectic' means 'composed of elements drawn from various sources' so it's not just a card blog but of course cards are welcome, as is anything else that links up to each week's theme.

There are 2 teams - pink and purple - which means each team will get a week off between challenges.  I am on the pink team (appropriately enough given my blog name!) and we kick off the challenges with that all round favourite 'Anything Goes'.  I hope you will head on over to the  EE challenge blog  to check out the rest of the wonderful DT's work once you have finished here.

As much as I love doing cards, there are so many other areas of art and craft that I enjoy and I am hoping to use EE as a springboard into doing more of this.  With that in mind, I decided to do a mixed media canvas for this first challenge.  I used one of my own digis from LilyPink Designs at CYDI which I printed into sticky back canvas, fussy cut and then coloured with Copics.

The canvas itself, I painted with some Claudine Hellmuth Studio acryclic paints and added some dylusions ink sprays over that (they're so bright and zingy, I love them!).

I then got messy and added bits of text paper, inked through stencils, used bubble wrap and bottle lids as stamps and played with the background until I was happy :)  The canvas image was stuck down and I added some letters, cut using my Cameo to make the quote from Alice in Wonderland.  The actual size of the canvas is 10" x 8" which is a good size to start with if you want to play with some mixed media - I can highly recommend it as it is such good fun getting inky and painty!

The finished project.

Thanks for sticking with me on this rather long post and please do go and take a peek at the fabulous projects from the rest of the Pink DT at Eclectic Ellapu.

I would like to link this up to the Inspire Me Fridays linky party and enter into the Anything Goes challenge at http://craftymesschallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/ and the harvest moon challenge at http://jeanette-soartfulchallenges.blogspot.com/ .

I love this Dawn! Isn't it great to do something a bit different now and then? I didn't even know you could do Copics on sticky back canvas - I've got a whole package, so I will have to give that a try. Big hugs to you!

Mixed media really is fun isn't it. :-) I like how you used the sticky backed canvas for your image. Great idea since it will take the ink. Beautiful project Dawn. Congrats on your new team! Hugs!
