Birthday explosion!

Hello all!
It's another challenge for the Pink team over at Eclectic Ellapu and this time we are asking you to come up with something wonderful using pink and cream.  Please head over to the challenge blog to check out the fantastic inspiration from the rest of the team  - after finishing here first though!

I have been wanting to make an exploding box for some time and I also wanted to do a battery tealight cake so I thought I would combine the two of them as a birthday creation for a very good friend of mine.  There are several tutorials available all over the web for both these so I won't waste your time with any tutorials here - I'm not that good at explaining things clearly so you're much better off looking it up yourself anyway :)

I used pink, cream and pale creamy-yellow as my colours and decorated with a few punched butterflies and some tiny paper flowers.  I actually cut the templates for the box using my Cameo so the whole process was very quick and easy!

The 'flame' tier of the cake goes inside the bottom tier of the cake when the box is closed.  You can't see in the photo but the battery tealight was on and the flame was flickering.  This was fun to do and makes a change from a card!

I would like to enter this into the following challenges -

Thanks so much for popping in and I hope you're having a great weekend :)

Love it Dawn. I agree with Penny, love these kind of things but to complicated for me. You did a beautiful job on decorating your creation and someone is very lucky to get this gift.

Gosh, Dawn, I didn't know you were from Cambridge! What a truly small world! LOL! I couldn't go with him as I had waaaay too much to do for DT's! And I would have been left alone during the week, while he was in class. He did say today that I would love the shops there, though! (He knows me too well!) And I didn't go last time because that one was a really short trip for a two-day meeting. Perhaps next time...
