Things with wings.

Hello all!
This week our challenge theme over with the Alcohol Markers DT at The Outlawz is 'things with wings' which gives you plenty of scope to come up with something creative and get a chance to win our monthly prize.  This month we are sponsored by Sami Stamps who has a lovely selection of digital stamps to choose from if you are our lucky winner - our main rule being that you must use alcohol markers to colour your image.
I'm keeping this post short and sweet as I'm currently enjoying the very damp February climate of England and family time is taking the place of blogging which is also the reason why I have been falling behind with my commenting too - sorry folks !
For my card this week, I used a Mayzy Art digi and not only did I colour the image with my Copics, I did the dotty background using them along with the colourless blender to get more of a watercolour effect.   I finished off the card with a few scraps of cardstock, a stamped sentiment and an adhesive gem.

Entering this into the challenges at Through the Craft room door , Crafty Sentiments , 4 Crafty Chicks , 4 Krafty Girlz and Creative Moments.

Thanks for stopping by!

It's in the stars.

Hello all!
Time for another challenge from the PINK DT over at Eclectic Ellapu and this week the theme is my choice - as the post title says, 'It's in the stars'.  You can interpret this in a number of ways so don't feel shy about entering!  There's the whole zodiac thing or you can take it literally and use the night sky as your theme - feel free to think outside the box.

For my card I used a Mayzy Art digi and merged her onto a background that I created myself - a subway word art block of star sign characteristics in different fonts.  I'm working on all twelve signs and will put them up as a set to sell in my etsy shop.  They'll work with any number of people digis for birthday cards but also look pretty good on their own as artwork too!  The fab digi was coloured with Copics and I kept the whole thing very simple by just adding a simple tag as an embellishment.

I would like to enter this in the following challenges - Simon Says Stamp and Show, Mayzy Art, JellyPark, Copic Marker Europe and Cas-ual Fridays.

Thanks so much for popping in and have a great finish to your weekend :)

Love is in the air......

Hello all!
Back with a card that I very nearly forgot to post!  I had it ready a few days ago but then it got covered with the usual creative mess on my worktable and only resurfaced this morning when I attempted to tidy up!  Anyway, here it is and none the worse for wear fortunately :)

The digi is Frog Princess from the wonderful MayzyArt and fits right in to the current challenge over there at Mayzy Art blogspot which is romance.  The usual suspects were involved in the making of this - Copics, Silhouette Cameo, Tim Holtz tickets, ribbon and cardstock and stick on gems!  I would also like to enter this into the challenges at -

Thanks so much for popping in to take a look - see you soon :)

Whooo's who.......

Hello all!
I'm back with yet another simple card - I am finding it so much easier to do very plain layouts as it stops me spending hours agonizing over which embellishments to add and where to place them!  I know some folks out there in blogland may think that my latest cards have been too plain, boring even but I really do feel more comfortable doing them this way.  That doesn't mean I won't do the 'Heinz 57' type again - I'm just in my CAS zone at the moment :)

This card is done with a digi from the wonderful MayzyArt with the current Anything Goes challenge over at the blog in mind.  Not much to say other than I coloured the image with Copics, trying to get a bit more depth to her face - one of these days I'll sign up for some Copics classes online and learn how to colour properly!  The sentiment is computer generated, added when I printed the digi.

Is it in the genes?

Hello all!
Just a quick post to show you something that isn't about my art!  We went back to the UK for a holiday in May and I took with me a colouring book that I had made up for my niece, filled with lots of my favourite digital stamps.  She loves to colour and so got to work on the book there and then.  In May she was 4 and a half so when I returned to the UK this September for her 5th birthday, I asked to see her colouring book........
......these are my favourite pages -

And yes, of course I'm completely biased but I think they're fantastic for a 4 1/2 year old!!!!  I also love how she's added a few bits here and there.  So, my post title question stands - is it in the genes?

I hope whatever she decides to do that she will always enjoy her art :)  Thanks for indulging me and letting me share.

Sing like no-one's listening....dance like nobody's watching...

Hello all!
Back with another posting for the The Outlawz Friday alcohol markers group and this week, we're on a musical slant! -  create something with a theme of singing and/or dancing.  We're sponsored by the fantastic Kenny K for the month of September so come and join us for the chance to win some great digis!

I chose to use a digi from the wonderful Mayzy Art and actually made a card without using my Cameo!!  I know that may come as a shock to you but I can create without the wonder machine!!  I used my trusty Copics for colouring the image and kept the embellies very simple by using a strip of ribbon, a ticket sentiment, a paper flower, a few gems and some photo corners.

She really has got her groove on!!!

Dive right in for that friday feeling!

Hello all!
I can't believe it's friday again - this week sure has flown past and it's another friday challenge over at The Outlawz and today we're splashing around with a water theme.  So much scope with this one and we have a great prize this month as we are being sponsored by guylous inimitability.

For my card, I chose to use a Mayzy Art mermaid -

The Cameo was used again for the die cut background pieces (love that scallop edged oval) and I dyed the seam binding with some Distress Ink and Perfect Pearls spray.  I will admit to not being 100% happy with the layout but I've been having a few off days craft-wise - sometimes I just can't put it all together in the way I want it to be!  Plus I've been struggling with some other projects that have not been going well and I think that's put me in the 'off' zone :(
Not to worry - I'll do some pinning to get some inspiration and come back to the projects after a few days.

Thanks for popping by - have a great friday!

Who gives a hoot?

Hello all!
Back with my first card for the new week and as much as I like the card, I didn't like making it!  Only because it's an Autumn themed card and I'm not ready to let go of summer just yet.  Anyway, the card is done using one of the fabulous digis from Mayzy Art for the challenge at the Mayzy Art blog which is "Silly".  I wasn't sure what to do and then I noticed one of the freebie digis I had received when I last placed an order - so generous, you get a freebie whenever you order :)  I thought the digi was fairly silly so decided to go with it -

I coloured the pair with Copics and added them to a tag that had some inked, corrugated cardboard adhered to it.  I cut a backing piece of cardstock and some leaf shapes using my Cameo and then inked through the negative leaf shapes to add some contrast to the background and added a few bits of crafting tape, some gems and a wooden leaf - the sentiment was simply printed with my pc.

Big Bang Birthday!!

Hello all!
Another week flies past and it's fabulous Friday again :)  That means another challenge over at The Outlawz from the Friday alcohol markers DT and this week we're asking to see your creations inspired by the circus or carnival.  Plenty of scope there for some bright and cheery cards (or anything else you wish to make, as long as you use alcohol markers!).

For my card I used one of the wonderful Mayzy Art digis - she has a whole Cirque du digi set in her shop so if you're in the mood for a little shopping...........

And, yes I'm using my vintage tickets again!!  Well, I did buy a whole roll of them so I think they'll be playing a part in my crafting for some time yet.
The digi was coloured with my copics, as was the bunting which was a free clear stamp I got with a UK magazine, Craft Stamper.  The sentiment was simply done on Adobe PSE with the font called Chipperfield and Bailey.

Would love to see you join in with the challenge over at The Outlawz.

Congratulations!!

It's the time of year for lots of graduations over here in the States and it won't be long before it's Degree Day for many university students in the UK too.  With that in mind, our challenge this week for the Copics/Promarker group at The Outlawz is "Congratulations" - with an option to do a Graduation congrats theme.  Don't forget that we are being sponsored by Krista Smith (Saturated Canary) so there's even more incentive to join in!

I chose to do a general congrats card and I used another image from the fabulous Mayzy Art - you really should check out her shop as she has some great digis!

I've been having a spate of doing fairly simple cards lately - sometimes I get overwhelmed by where to place embellishments and I just need to put my CAS head on and step away from the card!  The background to this was done using several free photoshop brushes and then I layered the copic coloured image on top and just added the (very old) chipboard photo corners - nice and simple!

Why not check out the rest of the DT team's wonderful creations over at The Outlawz and don't forget about the big party coming up there ........2000 members, wow!!  (see the blinkie at the top right of my blog).

Roll up, roll up!

Hello all :)
Back with another card but before I do anything else, I would just like to say a big thank you to Mayzy of  Mayzy Art for the fantastic prize of 5 of her fabulous digis that I was lucky enough to win on her very first challenge!  My Whole latte love card was picked as the winner - so quick happy dance and then it was over to her etsy shop to pick out some goodies :)

With the second Mayzy Art challenge in mind, which is 'At the Circus', I picked out some images I could use for that.  I wanted to do a circus poster type card and after seeing the great inspiration from that blog's DT, I came up with this -

I kept the colours to just red, yellow and pale blue as I felt these were bright enough to be circus-like and the background is from my huge roll of tickets that I picked up a while ago, out junking on the back roads of Pennsylvania (our latest obsession!)

I would like to put this in for the following challenges as well -

Before you leave, check out the new blinkie at the top right of my blog - we're having a huge party over at The Outlawz so make sure you're a member and you can join in the fun with lots of chances to win some fantastic prizes!!!
See you soon :)

Whole latte love.

Hello again - I wasn't expecting to be doing a double posting today but I had forgotten all about the very first challenge over at Mayzy Art.  I had coloured the digi already but then forgot to make the card - doh!  Anyway it's not too late so here goes -

This very cute digi is called Shawna with latte and is one of a number of very desirable images over at Mayzy Art.

As you can probably see, I used the sleeve for a takeaway coffee as the background strip - I was following the sketch from this week's challenge at retro sketches and this seemed to fit the bill perfectly :)

I would also like to enter this into the following "Anything Goes" challenges at divas by design and Simon Says Stamp .

Thanks for stopping by (again) !
