Photo inspiration at The Outlawz.

Hello all!
Another Friday, another challenge from The Outlawz Alcohol Markers DT and this week we are giving you a photo as inspiration.

               The photo is looking across at the San Francisco skyline from Sausalito - I happen to know this because I took the photo :)  Anyway, you can take inspiration from the colours, the sea, the flowers, the city view, basically anything.................just remember to use alcohol markers as that's what we're all about. We're being sponsored by the fantastic Make it Crafty this month so there's a very good reason to join in!

                                  For my card I used the colours as a starting point but I thought you could also tie in the image with the San Francisco of olden times - saloon gals and the wild west, what do you think?   I used Cheyenne from Kenny K downloads, coloured with Copics and fussy cut her, putting her on a background of smooshed blue and lavender Distress Inks, adding some washi tape and gems and a faded stamped text mat.  The sentiment and the very lightly stamped flower seedheads are two of those bargain dollar stamps from Michaels - I'm really going to miss those stores when I move!!

You're gonna hear me roar!!!!

         Just starting off my post for World Animal Day with some song lyrics as that song has been stuck in my head for days now and I do love to share!
    It's time for another challenge over at The Outlawz Alcohol Markers DT and today we want to see your animal projects in recognition of World Animal day, as I just mentioned :)

                               For my card, I decided to do my own background paper so after printing out the sentiment, I inked, blended, distressed, splattered and stamped away!  I then stuck on a strip of washi tape (thanks Kathi for the enabling!) to ground my star player - a Kenny K lion digi, coloured with Copics.  I apologise in advance for the punny sentiment :)

                                          Fits in nicely with the Autumn colours around at the moment - entering this in to the challenges at Through the Craftroom Door , C.R.A.F.T , 4 Crafty Chicks , Simon Says Stamp Wednesday , The Perfect Sentiment , Creative Moments , and  By LORI Designs .

A literary lifestyle.

Back after a short break from the world of blogging and crafting - I just needed to stop the routine for a little while!  Apologies in advance as I will not be able to catch up with commenting on all the past blog posts I have missed, I follow far too many fabulous blogs for that. Anyway, it's Friday again which means another challenge over at The Outlawz Alcohol Markers DT and our theme this week is "Read all about it".

     This one is right up my street as I'm a very enthusiastic reader and have been ever since I learnt to read, many moons ago!  I must have a book on the go and even though I have moved into the digital age with my Kindle, I still prefer the look and feel of a real book.
                        For my card I used a Kenny K digi , coloured with my Copics and set on a background of a book page and an alphabet lace cut-out, courtesy of the Silhouette store and my Cameo.  I can't say that "no books were harmed in the process of making this card" but the book is one that is falling to pieces so I think that recycling it to use for crafts is a fitting end to it!  The quote was one I found through Google and it sums up reading just perfectly for me.

Anything Goes with a Xmas twist.

Friday once again and as it's the last Friday of the month (where did half a year go???), that means it's time for The Outlawz  "Anything Goes" challenge with the optional twist of adding a Christmas card to the done pile.  Friday is the turn of the alcohol markers DT to host the challenge - if you haven't checked out The Outlawz yet, you really should - we have a different challenge every day and there's loads of fantastic inspiration for you to see!

                 So for my card I used a Kenny K Christmas digi and kept to the CAS style as I find it so much easier to do.  I love the fully loaded cards but I can't seem to pull them off - it takes me hours to put one together and I'm never truly happy with it.  CAS is the way for me for now and this card is very CAS!  Just the Copic coloured image, a strip of designer cardstock, a strip of washi tape and some cut out number pennants done with my Cameo.

Two's company!

wow, how did it get to be Friday again so quickly???  I just don't know where the week goes!  Anyway it's time for another challenge over at The Outlawz alcohol markers DT and this week we're all about couples - our theme is Weddings or Anniversaries.
     I decided to go for the Anniversary side of things and used a Kenny K digi for my card, coloured with my Copics.  I wanted a  cartoon style so printed a headline and byline and stopped there, still keeping it simple :)  Sorry about the grey tinge - I purchased a photo light box a while back but to be perfectly honest, the one I made using a cardboard box and tissue paper gave me better photos!  Trouble is, I've been using that as my mini spray booth so I'm going to have to keep on trying with the 'proper' one.

WOW - white on white

Back with a card that's for the current challenge over at Kenny K's Krafty Krew which is, as the blog post title says, a white on white challenge.  Fortunately you are allowed to colour the image so with that in mind I decided to do a Christmas card as all the white made me think of snow.  I used the Mistletoe digi and coloured her very lightly using cool blues (B00 and B000), trying to keep the image a bit washed out (great technical term there!)
      The background bits to the card were cut using my Cameo and I dry embossed the tree and the frame shape to get some added texture and interest.  The snowflakes (hand punch) were blinged up with a sticky gem in the centre of each and I tied some thin white ribbon through the background and on the small stamped tag.

                Apologies for the funny colour, (more cream than white), in the photo but I cannot get the balance right when snapping white pictures!!

Try something different.

Hello all!
Back with something a bit different this time :)   I've been painting and distressing some small pieces of furniture for a craft show and have also been making a few wooden signs along the way.  I recently painted a Captain Hook/Key hook wooden board (here) and so wanted to try something similar.  The current challenge over at Simon Says Stamp and Show is 'into the woods' so I took this very literally!  I took 3 pieces of pallet wood and sanded and stained them, joining them on the back with 2 cross pieces.  I then painted a patch of white paint in one corner, ready for the image transfer.
                  I used the Mod Podge transfer method - see tutorial here or google for a whole ton of others!  I used a Kenny K digi (Paige Parasol) and printed her with my laser printer and then applied her to the wood.  I left her to sit overnight and after I had removed all the paper, leaving the image behind, I coloured her with my Faber Castell Artist Big brush pens, following the colours for the current challenge at Kenny K's Krafy Krew.  I drew in the letters using Sharpie Paint Pens after printing and tracing them onto the wood using carbon paper.  I then added another vintage hook from my collection to make it useful wall art :)

Floral Friday Fun

Hello all!
         I can't believe that I'm writing another post for the Friday Copics/Promarkers DT again!  How did the last week slip by so quickly?  Anyway our challenge for this week is 'May Flowers" and I may have played a bit fast and loose with the 'May" bit as I used sunflowers!  I love sunflowers and I really did think they bloomed a bit earlier than they do...........  never mind, I don't think we'll be getting the gardening books out to check up on any of your entries :)
                    So, I did some more merging of digis for this card - I always use my Adobe PSE for this but there are plenty of other ways to do it (just Google it).  I used Kenny K's farmer's daughter and Make it Crafty sunflower garden and coloured the whole scene with my trusty Copics.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the matching sunflower shaped card base and matted the image on to coordinating cardstock.  The sentiment was computer generated when I merged the images.

Some NY attitude!

           I'm back with a card for the current challenge over at Kenny K's Kraft Krew which is a Tic Tac Toe one.  I love these digis and it was actually this company that started me off on the whole digi stamp and copics road - they're to blame for the large hole in my bank account!

                  I digitally merged Brooklyn Babe with one of my own digis - New York from the set of City Smash stamps available from Can You Digi It.  For the Tic Tac Toe aspect I used the line that had 'digi - twine - sentiment- pearl'.  If you look really closely you can just make out the pearl as the lollipop she's holding (it may be small but it still counts, right?).

                             I'm still in my CAS mode as you can see so I kept the background very simple with just a strip of cardstock and dictionary paper, a grungy style rubber stamped mesh and the stamped sentiment.  

I would like to put this in to the challenges at Kenny K's Krafty Krew, Simon Says Stamp & Show, Simon Says Stamp, Through the Craftroom door, and Addicted to Stamps.

One layer card with fake layers?

Hello all!
          Bit of a strange post title I know but it's early and my brain isn't at full capacity yet (need my 2nd mug of tea!)  Anyway, I've been drawing up some new digis which will work as background frames for any number of the fab images out there from all those amazing digi artists - I wanted to come up with some backing frames that could be merged with an image and used to create a one layer card, giving the impression of several layers.  Does that make any sense at all????
                 Maybe I should show you what I mean -

      Now I won't attempt to explain how to merge digital images here, you can see from my waffling above that I don't have any expertise in explaining things clearly but I will give you some links that show you how to do so here, here , and here.  (that really sounds like I'm doing the airplane emergency evacuation speech!)

    So, with the frame done and available from Can You Digi It (my digis are all under the name 'LilyPink Designs'). I decided to make a one layer card with it.  I merged a fave image from Kenny K on top of the frame and coloured the whole thing with Copics.

  So, a one layer card that looks like it has several layers - does it make sense now?

Anything goes at The Outlawz

Hello all!
Back with a quick posting for the regular Friday challenge over at The Outlawz and as it's the end of the month, the theme is 'Anything Goes' and we've added an optional Christmas twist.  I used a Kenny K digi, coloured with Copics and cut a tag shape out of the background cardstock, backing it with some patterned paper and then layering the fussy cut image over the edge of the cut shape.

                      Sorry to be so brief but I'm not at home so only have limited access and time.  I hope to get around to your blogs soon but excuse me for not commentating that much over the next few weeks - I'm spending time with my family in the UK :)

You've got style baby!!

Friday has rolled around once more so another challenge over at The Outlawz alcohol markers group is up and running and this week the theme is "FASHION".  That leaves it pretty open to interpretation so why not join us this week?  - the Design Team have some truly fabulous examples for you to look at for inspiration.

                     I went to one of my Pinterest boards for my inspiration  - I had pinned this gorgeous card from Crafty Little Pigtails blog.  I just love the CAS fresh look of it - wonderful!

                 For my card I used a Kenny K digi, coloured with Copics and some scraps of paper, adding some lace and pearl brads so it would work for the current challenge at Kenny K's Krafty Krew. I even broke out the sewing machine for a very small amount of stitching!

                      I would also like to enter this into the challenges at - Addicted to Stamps , Simon Says Stamp , Stampin Royalty , Oozak and Through the Craftroom Door .
