Planes, trains and automobiles.

Hello all!
          Our new challenge is up and running over with The Outlawz Alcohol Markers DT and our theme this week is transport.  I'm sure that many of us would like to get on a plane to escape this freezing January weather here in many parts of the USA but you could feature any type of transport to join in, just remember to use alcohol markers.

                For my card I used a digi from my own shop, drawn by my very talented husband.  He sells prints and does commission work through his own shop Sturgess Designs and gives me the line drawings to sell as digital stamps - sounds like a good deal to me :)
      Anyway, as his birthday is fast approaching, I decided to make a card ready for that.  We're both keen photographers and love to take snaps of rusty old trucks whenever we're out and about so I wanted to make a rusty pick-up the star of this card.  I wasn't really sure how to colour rust but I picked up some Copics in browns, warm greys, yellows and oranges and started 'dotting'.  Now some of you may wish for a more detailed explanation at this point but I'm sorry, that just isn't going to happen.  In 'real life', I'm a very organised person with a pretty tidy house but when it comes to creating and my craft room, that goes completely out the window.  For me, creativity comes from chaos!
         So. after dotting away with my Copics, I fussy cut the truck and put it on a background of stamped cork with an inked-up piece of road map, some washi tape and a dymo tape sentiment.  The self adhesive cork is 6" x 6" from DCWV and is supposed to be suitable for die cuts but I haven't yet tried it for that.  After all that rambling, finally here's the card -

A nice surprise and some artwork from the hubby!

Just popping in quickly with some nice news - I found out that I have been added to the 'Wall of Fame' over at Addicted to Stamps and More .  What a lovely way to start your day :)
      I do like playing over at this challenge site and it's sister site, Addicted to CAS   They always have such great inspiration from the Design Teams.  If you don't already play here, you really should go and check them out.

       I'll also be doing a couple of cards for a Guest slot in February next year which should be fun!

  

        I wanted to share some fantastic artwork from my very talented hubby ( I may be the tiniest bit biased ..........).   He has been digitally drawing for about a year now - some of you very kindly "like" his work on his Sturgess Designs Facebook page and have seen all the fantastic cars that he does.  He has recently been trying out some portrait work with a strong graphic style and I love it!  I especially love the ones he has done of my gorgeous nieces.

                    This one is from a favourite photo of mine, one that I took of them earlier this year.  I really love that he has captured their spirit so beautifully in this.

     Anyway, just wanted to share  - very proud of him :)

      Now for something from my hubby's shop - Sturgess Designs.  In between working on commissions from several car shows we've been visiting, he came up with these two cartoon style hot rods - such a clever old sod!

A British Classic.

A posting on a different topic today - my artistically talented hubby has been working hard on a commissioned picture for a work colleague and I wanted to share it with you.  Obviously I think it's fantastic but I would love to hear your views too.

                         This is all digital art, done using Corel Draw software working from a photograph of the customer's car.  If you zoom in, you can see all the reflected details on the chrome - it does take him a long time to do!!

        Would love it if any of you Facebookers gave him a "like" on his FB page - Sturgess Designs .
